Mia Gaddy is a research associate at the Charlotte Urban Institute. She holds a master’s degree in economics from UNC Charlotte, where she specialized in Applied Econometric Analysis. With a strong foundation in economics and a passion for community-centered work, Mia integrates both quantitative and qualitative methods to better understand complex social issues.

As a community researcher, she is passionate about translating data into practical, meaningful insights for a variety of audiences—from policymakers to nonprofit organizations and community members. In addition, she is deeply committed to ensuring that research is not only methodologically sound but also accessible and impactful.

When Mia is not conducting community research, she enjoys cooking new, vibrant meals, reading, spending time with family and friends, and volunteering in her church and community. She is elated to continue her journey at the Institute, and looks forward to using research to positively impact policy and program decisions in the Charlotte region.
