Nikki Ferguson

Nikki Ferguson is a research assistant at the Charlotte Urban Institute and Regional Data Trust where she is completing her Master of Social Work practicum, focusing on research and macro social work. She is a first-generation college student who earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from UNC Charlotte in 2025. 

Ferguson’s primary research interests are centered on examining the intersections of public policy, human health and the physical environment. 

Originating from Buffalo, New York by way of Mooresville, North Carolina, Ferguson enjoys watching Bills football, hiking, camping, country music and playing guitar.
