Research Data Engineer

Fatimah Alnahash is a research data engineer in the UNC Charlotte Office of OneIT. Originally from Saudi Arabia, she graduated from UNC Charlotte in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Japanese language.
Fatimah leverages software and data to support researchers at the Urban Institute in conducting meaningful projects that enhance and enrich communities and organizations. Through her work, she aims to ensure research and knowledge reach a broader audience, demonstrating how thoughtful, data-driven efforts can strengthen and create lasting positive impacts.
She values lifelong learning and believes in embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. As Grace Hopper once said, “A ship in port is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for.” When she’s not working, she seeks new adventures—whether it’s traveling to new destinations, experimenting with new recipes, mastering a crochet pattern, or spending quality time with family.
