For more than 15 years, Mary Ann Priester has worked with vulnerable and underserved populations, particularly individuals experiencing homelessness. She is a senior management analyst for Mecklenburg County Community Support Services on the Housing, Innovation, and Stabilization Services team. In this role, she serves as the Housing and Homelessness Data and Research Coordinator for Mecklenburg County.

Mary Ann’s role is to connect community stakeholders with actionable data and research to inform decision-making around policy, funding, and programs addressing housing instability and homelessness. She is a trained community-engaged researcher with 10+ years of experience working with community stakeholders to develop and execute stakeholder driven programs and research projects including project implementation, data collection, and outcome analyses.

Prior to serving in the Data and Research Coordinator role, Mary Ann was the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Coordinator for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Continuum of Care where she led HMIS strategic planning efforts and provided data oversight, technical support, and training to community agencies. In this role she developed extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, clinical and community best practices related to housing and homelessness, and knowledge on cross-sector issues such as racial equity, economic mobility, trauma, and health. Mary Ann also is the chair of the Charlotte Regional Data Trust Data and Research Oversight Committee (DAROC), is community data lead for the Built for Zero initiative to end homelessness and serves on the MeckHMIS Governance Committee.
